Conjunctions are used to link up or join words, phrases, clauses and sentences
TYPES OF CONJUNCTIONS
- Conjunctions that show similarity such as “ and, also, besides, as well as, both …. and”
EXAMPLE
Besides playing the piano, she also plays the violin
- My sister is not only pretty, she is also very smart.
- Conjunctions that show the purpose of an action such as “to, so that”
- He worked hard so that he would do well in his exams
- We must eat good food to be healthy.
- Conjunctions that refer to actions that will end at a particular time: till and until
- We will be here until five o’clock
